II Rzeczpospolita, jeden z trzech pierwszych Aliantów, została zaatakowana i podzielona między III Rzeszę i Związek Sowiecki, wzdłuż linii ustalonej w tajnym protokole paktu Ribbentrop - Mołotow, dzielącego centralną i wschodnią Europę między oba kraje. Polskimi sojusznikami w tamtym czasie były Francja i Wielka Brytania.
