Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Military field uniform for the German Waffen-SS during World War II, a variation of the field-grey (grey-green) (German: feldgrau) army uniform with SS insignia, worn by a Norwegian volunteer soldier holding the rank of SS-Rottenführer (SS-Squad leader).
  • Tunic/jacket (Feldbluse, probably M/36) with shoulder straps (Schulterklappen), four sewn-on pleated pockets with scalloped flaps, and an open collar (geöffnet) with button for Kragenbinde, and SS-runes on the right collar tab (Kragenspiegel) and rank insignia on the left. The cloth badges on the left sleeve are the SS version of the eagle-and-swastika (Ärmeladler, 'sleeve eagle'), the national symbol of Nazi Germany, and rank insignia chevrons for SS-Rottenführer.
  • Falstad Center, Norway: Part of the uniform for Waffen-SS Rottenführer. The original owner was a Norwegian "front fighter". During training in Germany, he attempted to escape but was captured and sent to the Eastern Front. It's unknown if he participated in combat. He reportedly returned to Norway via Finland and Sweden to Narvik. He was arrested after the war and held at Falstad (then Innherad Prison Camp). He was not in any other prison camps in Norway besides Falstad.
