Deutsch: Original-Bildunterschrift: Chiffriertes Telegramm des badischen Gesandten Sigismund Graf von Berckheim aus Berlin an die großherzogliche Regierung am 31. Juli 1914 um 21.45 Uhr: Nach der russischen Mobilmachung gegen Österreich habe Deutschland zwei Ultimaten an Russland und Frankreich gestellt. England habe das deutsche Neutralitätsangebot abgelehnt. Das Verhalten von Italien und Rumänien bleibe unklar. – Der Weltkrieg begann.
