Description
English: U.S. Marines with the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) Special Operations Capable (SOC), Sailors with the Harpers Ferry-class landing support dock ship USS Oak Hill (LSD 51), Wasp (WSP) Amphibious Ready Group (ARG), and French Sailors with the French Mistral-class amphibious assault ship FS Mistral (L9013) discuss the scheme of maneuver for a joint, simulated beach assault while aboard the FS Mistral, June 1, 2024. U.S. military personnel and NATO Allies and partners are commemorating the 80th anniversary of Operation Overlord, the Allied invasion of Normandy on June 6, 1944, widely known as D-Day. The WSP ARG-24th MEU (SOC) is conducting operations in U.S. Naval Forces Europe area of operations to support high-end warfighting exercises while demonstrating speed and agility operating in a dynamic security environment.
