Description
English: Watercolor, bodycolor, and gum arabic on paper, with scratching out

16 X 11 1/2 inches, 41 X 29 cm. Signed, l.l., W. HUNT

William Henry Hunt exhibited tree works of boys dressed as troopers from the English Civil War at the 1842 Spring exhibition of the Society of Painters in Water-colours: A Trooper, A Rollicking Trooper, and this watercolor, A Sleeping Trooper. The artist's ability to depict the appearance of polished metal through the use of watercolor and bodycolor is demonstrated in the boy's armor.
