Hubble image of WISE 1534-1034 aka "The Accident"

Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Hubble WFC3/IR Filter: F110W

North is roughly at the upper left.

The arrow marks the position of the mysterious object WISE 1534-1034. Lower left shows a zoomed-in view centered around WISE 1534-1034. The view also shows the many stars and galaxies, which are much more distant to earth than WISE 1534-1034 (53 light years distant).

WISE 1534-1034 is suspected to be a cold metal-poor brown dwarf. But there exist other theories that could explain the unusual colors and the high speed of 200 km/s of this object.
