This is an image of a place or building that is listed on the National Register of Historic Places in the United States of America. Its reference number is 75001877.

Description
English: Sculptural detail, HQ of the Washington State Superintendent of Public Instruction, downtown Olympia, Washington. Apparently a stylized animal head, but I'm not sure whether it is intended as a dragon or a cougar.


Designed by Willis A. Ritchie and built 1890–1892 as the Thurston County Courthouse, it served 1905–1928 as the state capitol building. A fire in 1928 resulted in the loss of a central tower.
