Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Vulcan autotrack turret with target-tracking radar married to the gun.

This is a closeup view of the autotrack turret. The gunner looks for the target through the helmet sight—the radar antenna is slaved to the helmet and follows its line-of-sight. When the gunner has the target in the sight reticle, he squeezes the trigger.

The radar radiates, locks on the target, and assumes the tracking task. The computer provides necessary commands to the turret and when the target is within range, the computer directs the gun to fire a burst. After the burst, the process is repeated until the gunner decides to terminate the engagement by releasing the trigger.
