English: The Vrooman Avenue School, located at 400 Vrooman Avenue in Amsterdam, New York was built in 1918 and closed in June 1975,. It is now an apartment building. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1983. In this image, the flags seen are part of the 4th Ward Veterans' Memorial, located on property reserved from the sale of the school. It was founded in 1967 with a stone monument, and the flags were added later, each one representing the home country of an ethnic community in the area. (Source: [1])
