Description

Narrow-angle mosaic of a turbulent upwelling zone north of Jupiter's equator just a few hours before Voyager 1 made its closest approach to the planet on March 5, 1979. Distance to the planet was 753,000 km.

Mosaic has been colorized with a lower-resolution wide-field image taken concurrently with the narrow-angle mosaic.
