The iupcrior border of the vexillum is hollow-ed, and almoft entirely covers the alas of thecarina. The ftamina, which are fix in number, are allfeparatcd from one another. The ovarium is oval, elongated, and terminatedby a recurvated Hyle. The pod is oval, and filled with a great numberof black and almoft fpherical feeds. This plant is perennial, and its leaves are iimple,alternate, feffile, coriaceous, long, dentated, andhave two little fpines for ftipulce.
