Description
English: A U.S. Navy Vought RF-8A Crusader (BuNo 146830) of Photographic Reconnaissance Squadron 63 (VFP-63) Det. L "Eyes of the Fleet" in flight. VFP-63 Det. L was assigned to Attack Carrier Air Wing 21 (CVW-21) aboard the aircraft carrier USS Hancock (CVA-19) for a deployment to Vietnam from 6 December 1965 to 1 August 1966. The RF-8A 146830 was shot down by ground fire 20 km south-west of Lang Son Province, North Vietnam, on 21 June 1966. The pilot, Lt. Corbett Eastman, ejected and became a prisoner of war.
