Illustrations of Volutoconus bednalli

Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Illustrations of Volutoconus bednalli (Brazier, 1878)[1]. The first known specimen of this volute was an immature shell named after its owner, W. T. Bednall. It remained unique until 1893 when George Brettingham Sowerby III acquired another one collected by a Torres Straits pearl diver: making it the first mature specimen (illustrated here) to come on the market[2].
