Notes Nock 7 barrel flintlock volley gun or Fort gun, circa 1807 Made by "Nock" for British Government in 1807. Presented to the Museum in 1921, with donor narrative stating that- This gun was brought to NZ by the Maori Chief Hongi Hika on his return from a visit to England in 1821 - It was also supposed to have been used by followers of Te Kooti at the Poverty Bay Massacre in 1868, and was found in the track of their retreat after this disaster." originally of naval issue. Type brought ashore and used by British regulars and volunteers.
