Summary
[edit]DescriptionVolcanic Ash Fall Layers Izu Oshima Japan 1.jpg |
English: Volcanic ash-fall layers on Izu Oshima volcano in Japan. The volcanic ash was erupted into the air by the volcano. The ash then fell back onto ground. The ash was deposited during Pleistocene and Holocene times on an uneven ground surface. The ash layers are parallel to the curvature of the underlying ground surface. This is mantle bedding. The folds are known as drape folds. The ash layers have not been folded after deposition. |
