Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Vlastimil Moravec (* 17 March 1921 - 24 October 1942 Mauthausen Concentration Camp). Graduated from a commercial high school. Vlastimil, also known as "Aťa", arranged courier connections for the paratroopers (he acted as a liaison for the paratroopers) and participated in the preparation of the assassination. On 26 April 1942, paratrooper Jozef Gabcik received from Vlastimil Moravec the bicycle that was used in the assassination. On the day of the raid on the Moravec family apartment (17 June 1942) Vlastimil was not in Prague. The Gestapo summoned him home with a fake telegram. After his arrest, Vlastimil was tortured by the Gestapo and it was probably he who revealed the location of the paratroopers' hiding place - the church in Resslova Street. Together with his father, Alois Moravec (* 1887), he was executed in the Mauthausen concentration camp on 24 October 1942.
