Summary
[edit]DescriptionVivitar Series 1 70-210mm.jpg |
There are some cult lenses. Like the Rubinar mirror lenses, or anything m42 mount. Some lenses have cult followings, like the Noct Nikkors or the silver-finished Canon kit lenses. This lens is/has both. To say it's rare is an understatement. When it was new, it was ludicrously expensive, competing directly with the best offerings of Nikon, Minolta, Olympus and Canon. Nowadays, these can be found at used photography stores for nearly nothing, and their performance (if you're willing to forgo many modern features) is still darn good. Here are some shots I've taken with this lens on various bodies: www.flickr.com/photos/aperture_lag/tags/vivitarseries1702... Here are some more in-depth details on the 70-210: www.robertstech.com/vivitar.htm And some additional reading on Vivitar itself courtesy of Wikipedia: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vivitar Nikon D5000, Tamron 35-135 3.5-4.5 Macro Adaptall-II Strobist: Sunpak auto 383 Super camera left, 1/16th, through white umbrella Promaster FTD-7000n camera right and behind, 1/8th, into silvered white umbrella Nikon SB-15 above onto white ceiling tile, MD mode (1/2 power?) |
