Thiruvalluvar and Vivekananda Memorials at the Confluence of Three Seas at Kanyakumari- India

Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Vivekananda rock memorial and the Thiruvalluvar statue stands atop the two rocks on the confluence of the three seas at the tip of the Indian subcontinent. Vivekananda Rock Memorial was built in 1970 in honour of Swami Vivekananda, who is said to have attained enlightenment on the rock. The Thiruvalluvar Statue, is a 41-metre-tall (133 ft) stone sculpture of the Tamil poet and philosopher Valluvar, author of the Tirukkural, considered one of the greatest works ever written on ethics and morality, and it is known for its universality and secular nature. The statue was sculpted by the Indian sculptor V. Ganapati Sthapati, and was unveiled on the millennium day of 1 January 2000 by the then Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi. The Thiruvalluvar Statue represents the aphoristic teachings on virtue (aram), wealth (porul) and love (inbam), respectively.
