Description
English: Interior view of the cave chapel of Olleros de Pisuerga (Palencia, Spain). This church is the best example of Spanish eremitic movement. Launched its "work" to the XI or X century by mozarabic people which fleeing from Islam arrived in this area, and dug a first place of prayer, in current sacristy, which had (blinded currently) access door and window in concentric circles functions. Then is increase the construction of the temple performing two craft and a third, already towards the end of the XII century header so it fits of full during the years of the Romanesque in North Palencia hatching. Orientation is abnormal, by imperative of sandstone rock that carved outcrop. The craft has North-South orientation and the door opens to the East. Headers, in turn, are diverted to West, from the axis of its ships. The two made craft simulate possess Vault suggested and not lack even the detail of the transverse arches with pointer; notable carving whose sole function is obviously decorative to accommodate the temple to the tastes of the time in was expanded. The four pilasters which tile craft in four sections more the presbytery, only that underpins the choir at the foot of the temple is original. The other three, Tuscan, are 17th and should replace impairment the rock in those places.
