Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Old Newgate Prison began as a copper mind in pre-Revolutionary times, and was converted into a prison shortly after the American Revolution. Chunks of large local stone were used to build a good proportion of the building, along with native brick.

The visitors' wing is mostly 20th century architectural, with a hint of the 18th century building within the high walls.

Although the buildings are open to the public on irregular schedule due to construction and weather conditions, repairs are progressing on the project after neglect for many years.
