Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Virgil "Quicksilver" Hill, captured in the historic wet plate collodion process of pure silver on glass. This is his second visit to my studio, the last being back in February of 2015. Virgil will be receiving the Rough Rider Award from the Govenor tonight at 5pm. One of the largest honors this state can set upon a North Dakotan. This plate will be donated to the State Historical Society of North Dakota to document his legacy as the best boxer to ever come out of our state. He held five world titles in his career and took Silver in the 1984 Olympics. Carl Zeiss Tessar 300mm lens, f4.5, 8 seconds of exposure, 8x10" black glass ambrotype, natural light through Northern facing windows and skylights at Nostalgic Glass Wet Plate Studio, Bismarck, North Dakota, Plate 4854 taken on 10-30-2023.
