Legionärspfad Vindonissa - Station IV: Porta Decumana

Fundamente zweier hakcenförmig einspringender Türme, die typisch waren bei Legionslagern des mittleren 1. Jh. n. Chr.

Es liegt an der Nordböschung direkt über dem Steilabfall des Plateaus und besitzt nur einen Turchgang.

Das Nordtor war weder für den Strassenverkehr noch militärisch von Bedeutung. Es diente vor allem der Zufuhr von Waren, die am Aareufer geländet, und der Abfohr des Lagerkehrichts, der westlich des Tores auf dem "Schutthügel" deponiert wurde.
