Summary

[edit]
Description
Deutsch: Germanische Keramik.

English: Germanic ceramics. Within the military fortress, and in Vindobona's urban settlement beside it, Germanic artefacts could always be found. They provide evidence of a flourishing exchange of goods with the Germanic population living beyond the Danube border, during the 2nd and 3rd century. Evidence of the Germanic presense during the late antiquity (4th and 5th century A.D.) can be found within the Roman residential area, within the fortress walls, and in the corresponding cemeteries. It shows that a certain part of Vindobona's population during that time was of Germanic origin.

1) Germanic beaker, ceramic, 2nd/3rd century A.D.
