Lord Stanley's cup and Mr. Lombardi's trophy are together at last. Only at Pittsburgh.

On display today at the City-County Building, Downtown, was a site only seen in Pittsburgh - the first city to have teams win the NHL championship and the Super Bowl in the same calendar year. The Steelers came from behind to beat the Arizona Cardinals in February to claim their sixth Vince Lombardi Trophy. The Penguins, in equally dramatic fashion, defeated the Detroit Red Wings in June and get to etch their names on the Stanley Cup for the third time.

In 1952, the Red Wings won the Stanley Cup and the Detroit Lions won the NFL championship. What is now known as the Lombardi Trophy, however, was not awarded until 1967, when the championship game now known as the Super Bowl was first played. The football-shaped trophy was named after Green Bay's legendary coach in 1970.
