Description

Villevêque (Maine-et-Loire)

Moulin à eau de l'Engrenage.

A partir du Moyen-Âge, plusieurs moulins ont été édifiés, sur le Loir, à Villevêque.

Au XIXe siècle, trois moulins existaient : Le Grand moulin, le moulin de Froment et le moulin de Guichet. Le moulin de Guichet a été détruit par la municipalité en 1862, pour établir un port, un lavoir et un abreuvoir.

Les moulins de Villevêque était essentiellement céréaliers : seigle et blé, mais aussi pour la production d'huile de lin.

Les moulins s'arrêteront vers la Seconde Guerre mondiale.

Le moulin de l'Engrenage regroupe les deux moulins à eau du moulin de Froment et du Grand moulin. C'est une salle de réception et un site culturel, touristique et pédagogique. Une des roue à aube est utilisée pour la production d'électricité.
