English: The MV Villars is shown positioning itself into place at the Norwegian port of Valsneset awaiting US Marine Corps cargo. All equipment loaded here have been pulled from the caves located in the Trondheim region of central Norway and is on its way to Estonia for Baltic Challenge '97, a Partnership for Peace exercise. The US Marine Corps have equipment stored in Norway as part of the Norway Air-Landed Marine Expeditionary Brigade (NALMEB) Prepositioning Program. The NALMEB program contains equipment and supplies to support a 13,000 person Marine Air Ground Task Force (MAGTF) for 30 days. The Government of Norway is the on site "contractor" and provides storage, maintenance facilities, services, and security. |
