Smt. Vijayalakshmi Pandit High Commissioner for India in the United Kingdom, presented the Award of Asoka Chakra to Maj. Arnold Theodore Stephenson, at a ceremony held at London in 1952. Maj. Stephenson was presented the award for outstanding courage, leadership and devotion to duty during the civil disturbances following partition of India in 1947.
