Description
Viggo Pedersen made two versions of this scene. The first was larger (112 x 86 cm) and was shown at the Charlottenborg exhibition in 1884. This second version was bought by Heinrich Hirschsprung in 1884. In the book I Italiens lys it is speculated that it might be P.S. Krøyer's recommendation that let to the purchase, given that Krøyer was very positive in his assesment of Pedersen in contemporary letters.
