Description
English:
View of Mission San Juan Capistrano Bell Tower from front, 1900
Photograph of campanario (1813) from front, circa 1900. The bells, left to right are: San Vicente, 1796; San Juan, 1796; San Antonio, 1804; San Rafael, 1804. On the fifth stone up from the ground (in the wall of the stone church where it joins the campanario) may be seen the inscription of don Juan Forster (JF 19) placed there in 1845 when he purchased the ex-mission from the departmental government. This has since been cut off the face of the stone.
