Nederlands: Deze foto is omstreeks 1895 genomen door Charles C. Pierce, die in 1886 naar Zuid-Californië verhuisde en zijn carrière in de fotografie begon is Los Angeles. Deze foto is genomen vanaf de Long Wharf (ook bekend als de Port of Los Angeles of de Mile Long Pier), een aanlegkade net ten noorden van Santa Monica Canyon. Tegenwoordig wordt de plaats die te zien is op de foto Pacific Palisades genoemd. Dit is een wijk van de stad Los Angeles. De foto is onderdeel van de C. C. Pierce Photography Collection, die in het bezit is van de University of Southern California.
English: This photograph was taken around 1895 by Charles C. Pierce, who moved to Southern California in 1886 and began his career in photography in Los Angeles. This photo was taken while standing on the Long Wharf (also know as Port Los Angeles or the Mile Long Pier), a dock just north of Santa Monica Canyon. Nowadays the place seen on the photo is called Pacific Palisades and it's a neighborhood in the city of Los Angeles. The photo is part of the University of Southern California's C. C. Pierce Photography Collection.
