| Description |
English: View from Yatton Hill to Wigmore Glacial Lake Superb view to the north from Yatton Hill. In the middle distance Wigmore sits at the bottom of Wigmore Rolls hillside on the left. Most of the area below and beyond Wigmore was once Wigmore Glacial Lake, fed from the run-off from melting glaciers. This originally drained southwards to the left of the picture via a gap in the hills around Aymestrey. Later the lake drained when the river Teme created Downton Gorge behind Gatley Hill on the right of the picture. So today, the drainage is first north via Allcock's Brook, then east towards Ludlow via the river Teme. |
