Summary
[edit]DescriptionView along the old railway cutting - geograph.org.uk - 1612383.jpg |
English: View along the old railway cutting The cutting forms a section of the dismantled trackbed of the cut-off railway line which ran between Forncett and Wymondham. The originally single-track line was used for main line diversion trains during the floods of 1912 and it was doubled for military purposes during WWI. Station buildings remain at nearby Ashwellthorpe > https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1412303.
This section of the dismantled line is accessible from the bridge over Wymondham Road > https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1612486 up until near High House Farm > https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1612362 further to the north-west. The path leading in south-easterly direction is marked, and at this time of the year very soggy. |
