Summary
[edit]DescriptionView across Graveney Marsh - geograph.org.uk - 145975.jpg |
English: View across Graveney Marsh. Looking south from the 'new' sea wall near the sailing club. I'm not sure when the various sea walls were constructed but believe the one in the foreground was breached by the storms of January 1953 so presume the current one was built (or enlarged) since then. The Faversham Road and most of the buildings along this bit of coast stand between the two sea defences. Drainage dykes criss-cross the marsh and show up as lines of pale reeds above the grass. A train may be seen, just left of the pylon, on the North Kent Coast line which crosses the marsh obliquely heading from Faversham to the west to Seasalter and Whitstable to the east. |
