Summary
[edit]DescriptionView From Top of Hose Tower. (47573124731).jpg |
SV-001 — Nelson Dionne Collection. View up Brown Street, looking to the east, from the tower of St. Peter's Church on Church Street. The Andrew-Safford House is visible in the distance to the center, along with the Franklin Building to the right-center (now the site of the Hawthorne Hotel). The title, "View From Top of Hose Tower," is a mislabeling on the card itself, as seen on the backside, in reference to the firehouse farther west on Church Street. Published by Peabody & Tilton, "booksellers and stationers," at 220 Essex Street in "Views of Salem, Mass. and Vicinity," c. 1874-78. View is the same as SV-002, published under John P. Tilton. |
