Français : Vierge à l'enfant debout sur un socle rocheux et presque grandeur nature : c'est une Vierge de l'Immaculée Conception foulant au pied le serpent avec la pomme. Elle tient l'Enfant assis sur son bras gauche et, de la main droite, esquisse peut-être un geste de bénédiction. Vêtu d'un linge, Jésus tend la main droite et tient le globe dans l'autre main. La Vierge porte sa robe traditionnelle, rouge, et par-dessus un ample manteau bleu et or dont le plissé structure toute l’œuvre, révélant le savoir-faire du sculpteur. Sur le côté gauche du groupe, le manteau se casse en gros plis, tandis qu'à droite, il retombe en une fluide incurvation. Penchée vers l'avant, la tête couronnée de la Vierge porte une chevelure jusqu'à mi-corps. L'arrière de la tête presque plat, manque singulièrement de matière, alors qu'à l'arrière du manteau travaillé avec soin, se déroulent les longues ondulations de la chevelure. |
