English: Victoria, Princess Royal, with her nurse. Etching by her mother, Queen Victoria. VAM E.2175-1932.
Victoria Adelaide Mary Louise (1840-1901), known as ‘Vicky’ to her family, was the eldest child of Queen Victoria. Image description: line drawing; an infant in long dress, in profile looking to the viewer's right. She is held by a woman whose face is mostly obscured. At the right of the image is part of a bird-cage on a table, with a small bird inside the object of the baby's attention. Inscriptions: bottom centre, "Victoria"; bottom left "V.R. del & sclt = 2/22 1841" [Victoria Regina delinit et sculptit.] Based on a photograph by Victoria and Albert Museum. File:Victoria, Princess Royal, with her nurse (1841). VAM E.2175-1932.jpg Image has been cropped to inside the mounting window (but outside plate impression), converted to greyscale with a yellow filter, and a ramped luminance threshold (approx 50% to 65%) applied. Modifications, to the extent they might be copyrightable, are released as CC-BY-SA 4.0. However, it is the opinion of the editor (Pelagic) that these are below the threshold of originality, and are subject to the doctrine of faithful reproduction of a 2-dimensional original, for jurisdictions where these hold. |
