ay postage. IRIS The Iris or Flower de Luce, the Fleur-de-lis ofthe French, one of the most beautiful of hardy gardenplants. There are several distinct genera of theseplants, native of different regions, and each presentsmany garden varieties, the flowers of which are ofpeculiar and handsome formation, beautifully coloredand marked and equal in real beauty to the mostshowy orchids. The plants are hardy in the opengarden, and some kinds are desirable for greenhouseculture. DOZ IOO Anglica, or English, large, handsome flowers 3 for 10 25 1 50 Hispanica, well adapted for pot culture and forcing in the winter. Mixed varieties 2 for 5 20 1 00 Pavonia (Peacock), small beautifully marked flower; desirable for window culture 3 for 10 35 2 00 Persica, though hardy, is desirable for winter flowering in the house. One of the most charming and greatly admiredplants grown. The bulbs, or pips, can be planted ina bed out doors, or they can be potted four to six ina four-inch pot which can lie left in a cool place fora time, and even if exposed to a sharp frost are notinjured, but apparently benefitted thereby, and thenwilh plenty of warmth, light and water, they willsoon produce beautiful green leaves and sprays oflovely white, exquisitely fragrant blossoms. One ormore pots may be sunk in the garden and left untilwanted. It requires from three to five weeks for them toperfect their (lowers if kept very warm and givenplenty of water.
