Description
English: Vice President Michael R. Pence is greeted by Lt. Gen. Jerry P. Martinez, commander, U.S. Forces Japan, on the ceremonial quarterdeck of the Navy’s forward-deployed aircraft carrier, USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76). The vice president’s tour of the ship and his remarks to U.S. and Japanese service members highlighted the administration’s continuing commitment to rebuilding the U.S. military and to its alliances in the region. Ronald Reagan, the flagship of Carrier Strike Group 5, provides a combat-ready force that protects and defends the collective maritime interests of its allies and partners in the Indo-Asia-Pacific region.
