Summary
[edit]DescriptionVicars Bridge, Preston - geograph.org.uk - 954455.jpg |
English: Vicars Bridge, Preston This bridge at East Cliff crossed the East Lancashire line out of Preston station and seems not in the best of health, both the pedestrian walkway on the left and the carriageway in front being separate bridges within the old structure. The dip in the parapets of the latter suggests that even this additional construction is finding 15 tons maximum weight a heavy burden to bear. The buildings beyond the bridge, now county council offices, were previously the Park Hotel, jointly owned by the London & North Western and the Lancashire & Yorkshire railways and which once had direct footbridge access to the platforms of Preston station. |
