Joseph W. Vestal & Son's Illustrated and Descriptive Catalogue. 31 HARDY CLIMBING ROSES. The following- varieties are highly valued for training over arbors,trellises and verandas ; also as screens for un- sightly objects, such as old buildings, fences, walls, etc. They grow 10 to 12 feet high, and are entirely hardy. They bloom the second year and are then loaded with splendid roses, and are among the most beautiful of all flowers. The varieties described be- low are the best, and succeed well in all sections of the country. Climbing Meteor. This is the grandest of all new roses. One which will make 10 to 12 feet of growth in a season, and show a profusion of bloom every day. Foliage strong, healthy and luxuriant; buds exquisite; flowers large, beautifully shaped, and of that rich, dark velvety crimson color seen only in Jacqueminot. Price, 15 cents each ; large, 50 cents. Mad. Alfred Carriere. Extra large, full flowers, very double and sweet. Color a rich, creamy white, faintly tinged with pale 3'ellow ; exceedingly beautiful: a strong, hardy grower and free bloomer. Price, 15 cents each ; iarge size, 25 cents. Reine Marie Henriette. A strong growing and climbing rose, making a grand pillar rose in the South. Flowers full and well formed; rich brilliant crimson. Pfice, 10 cents each ; large, 25 cents. Gold of Ophir (Ophire). Nasturtium yellow, suffused with coppery red. One of the most beautiful climbing roses. Price, 10 cents each ; large, 25 cents. Climbing La France. v Peach pink, delicious perfume, same beautiful buds as Ea France, but a vigorous climber and abundant bloomer, and quite hardy; Price, 15 cents each ; large size, 50 cents. Climbing Bridesmaid. A clear, dark pink. In bud they are superb beyond that of any other climbing rose. Bridesmaid is considered the most beautiful of all pink roses, and in climbing Bridesmaid you have all this beauty coupled with a rampant climber. Price, 1 Scents each ; large, 50 &ents. Climbing Hermosa. Identical with Hermosa except habit of growth. Flowers are borne in great profusion, and in color are clear, bright pink ; medium size, full A rapid climber. Price, 10 cents each ; large, 25 cents. -

The Empress of China. A hardy, perpetual blooming, broufifht from China. It resembles a climbing rose, said to have been Tea rose; blooms the first year The- color is soft dark red, passing- to light pink or apple blossom. The flowers are medium size and quite fragrant, not entirely double, but of pleasing, graceful form and borne on long stems, nice for cutting. It is a rapid grower, of slender, twining habits, bearing few thorns, and val- uable for training over porches, ar- bors, etc. Entirely hardy. Needs no protection and will thrive in any lo- cality. You are sure to be delighted with this handsome rose. Try it. Price, 10 cents each. Two-year-old plants, 25 cents each.
