Latania Borbonica. The well known favorite Fan Palm, beautiful in all stag-es of growth. No plant is more easily- grown, and none more tenacious of life, enduring- the dust, the cold and heat from open windows, and gas heated air of our dwelling-s. It has fan shaped leaves, split into divisions at the apex, and frequently there are threads hang-ing- between the divisions. The plants will g-row into magnificent specimens in time. It is a strong-, vig-orous plant, and makes a fine appearance in the window, or in contrast with other plants in the g-reenhouse or conservatory. Price, 4 inch pots, 35 cents each ; larger sizes, 50 cents and $1.00 each. Phcenix Canariensis. Phoenix Canariensis. (Canary Island Date Palm.) The branches are feather shaped, long-, grace- fully arched, and, as the picture shows, are borne in luxuriant abundance. The color of the foliage is dark glossy green. The Canary Island Date Palm is of rapid growth, and soon attains large size. Price, 12 inches high, 4 and 5 leaves, 35c each. Weeping- Palm. (Washingtonia Filifera.) This is conceded to be one of the best palms for amateur culture. It stands ill treatment with im- punity, and thrives where other palms die. It is exceedingly ornamental, with elegant fan-shaped leaves of rich, dark, leathery green, from which hang long, thread-like filaments; a compact grower. Price, 15 cents each ; 4 for 50 cents. Honeysuckles and Other Hardy Vines. Honeysuckles. For real home vines, to be near you, climbing over your windows and door- ways, there is nothing prettier than fine, sweet scented honeysuckles ; the foliage is pretty, neat and clean, the flowers almost continuous, and their fragrance delicious. Honeysuckle Hedges. Some of our friends have conceived the idea of planting honeysuckles along the division fences, and it is wonderful what pretty hedges they make. Iron or wire fences are the best, but almost any kind is soon covered with a mantle of living green, making a very pretty and cheap border for lawns, drives, parks, cemeteries, etc. Other climbing vines will answer the same purpose, but the sweet scented honeysuckles are both fragrant and beautiful. They should be planted two feet apart. Price, strong plants, 20 cents each ; $1.50 per dozen. Wistarias. For training over buildings, pis, zzas, verandas or trellises, the Wistaria is of superior excellence, and the decorative features which their long, graceful blossoms afford make a particularly pleasing effect. They are entirely hardy, rapid growers and easy to cultivate. They may be trained to a shrub form of habit by paying atten- tion to pruning, by cutting away the new growth for several seasons. Price, 20 cents each ; 3 for 50 cents. Clematis Paniculata. One of the most beau- tiful of our hardy flowering vines. The flowers are pure white and are borne in great panicles or clusters of bloom, fairly covering the plants so that it is a mass or sheet of fleecy white. The fragrance is delicious, resembling the Knglish Hawthorn blossoms and so subtle and penetrating that a large plant in bloom fills the air with its exquisite fragrance. Price, 30 cents each. Ampelopsis Veitchii. (Boston or Japanese Ivy.) A most satisfactory and beautiful climber; it is entirely hardy and can adapt itself to any locality or exposure ; clings fast to stone, brick or wooden walls, and is extensively used on residences, churches, factories, etc., where in summer it covers all with a perfect mat of dark green leathery foliage, which changes as Autumn approaches to brilliant crimson ; the foliage serves as a great protection to buildings, the leaves lapping over like tiles on a roof, preventing effectually the rain from penetrating the walls. Price, 15 cents each; 4 for 50 cents. English Ivy. A splendid evergreen climber, with dark glossy green leaves ; clings firmly to stone or brick walls, without trellis or support, covering them closely with its splendid foliage ; very desirable. Price, 15 cents each ; larger size, 20 cents.
