This has to be one of my most lucky photographs! Both of these buses are Volvo B10B chassis with Alexander Strider bodies. However, they are of two different companies- going away from us is N506HWY operated by South West Coaches, and coming towards us is L528YDL operated by Damory Coaches but still in Wilts & Dorset livery. Fleet number 5628. 10 years ago, no one would have batted an eye at a scene like this, However, now in June 2013, these buses are ageing a lot, and are step entrance, meaning only a few more years of life for them. To get two, on two different services (none of these are regulars) the 158 SWC and the Damory 309, is very, very unusual and lucky. Just goes to show how being in the right place at the right time can be really good! The red bus was former Solent Blue Line, new in 1994 or '95, and the grey one comes all the way from Lancashire, new to Keighley & District in 1996 to launch the STARBUS network. It also operated for Harrogate & District and Lancashire United as 506, before passing to South West Coaches of Wincanton and Yeovil. Shaftesbury, Tuesday 18th June 2013. |
