Verrucaria nigrescens Pers., 1795 Photograph of a cross section of a perithecium taken through a compound microscope, x100. This specimen of Verrucaria nigrescens was growing on a serpentine rock along the stone road under the high voltage power lines about .25 mile S of the Red Dog Lodge and Serpentine Trail at the Soldiers Delight Natural Environment Area, Owings Mills, Baltimore County, Maryland, USA. Collected and determined by E.C. Uebel (No. U-598, 17 May 2006). |
