Vernicia montana  ; syn. Aleurites montanus Family: Euphorbiaceae

Native to southern China  and  Vietnam.

The tung tree is valued for tung oil, which is derived from the seeds of the tree. Tung oilhas traditionally been used in lamps in China. Now Tung oil is valued for its ability to dry quickly and polymerize into a tough, glossy, waterproof coating, especially valuable in paints, varnishes, linoleum, ...
