Description
Nederlands: Verheerlijking van de martelaren van Gorcum / anoniem.

Schilderij, olieverf op paneel. In het centrum van de bovenste rij figuren tronen Maria met kind met daarboven de duif, symbool van de H. Geest, en God de Vader. De Madonna wordt links geflankeerd door Franciscus, de engel Gabriël met in zijn rechterhand een banderol waarop: ave gratia plena (wees gegroet begenadigde), en Johannes de Doper; rechts door Johanna van Valois, stichtster van de orde der annunciaten, Jozef en Johannes de Evangelist. De onderste rij wordt gevormd door de negentien martelaren van Gorcum. Onder hen in het midden de franciscaanse overste Nicolaas Pieck staande op het lichaam van de geuzenaanvoerder Willem van der Mark, graaf van Lumey, op wiens bevel de negentien r.-k. geestelijken in 1572 ter dood werden gebracht.
Hoogte: 69 cm (geheel) ; breedte: 61.5 cm (geheel) ; diepteː 3.5 cm (geheel).
