SCOTTI AS FALSTAFF FALSTAFF GETS IN THE BASKET ACT II mands that she marry Dr.Caius. Ford tells the doctorthat this is a good time forhim to secure Nanetta, andpromises to aid him. DameQuickley, however, learnsof this, and the womenplan to have Fenton spoilthe designs of the phy-sician. Falstaffs love scenewith Mistress Ford is inter-rupted by Fords friends,disguised as elves andfairies, who thrash the fatknight soundly. In theconfusion *Dr. Caius mis-takes Bardolfo for Nanetta,Ford is finally won over,and his daughter andFenton are happily mar-ried. The Victor offers avery fine record of oneof the best known airsfrom the opera: the Quandero paggio, sung by Falstaffto Mistress Alice Ford inAct II.
