[edit]DescriptionVenus Transit Black Drop extreme (7350314908).jpg |
This photo is extreme in many ways ... the overexposure was extreme ... the histogram stretch needed to see the black drop detail was extreme ... the crop needed to salvage this bit of image from a 6-megapixel DSLR frame was extreme ... but the good news is that the black drop effect itself is Very extreme. This happened to be the very first frame of a few dozen I made during the Venus transit with my DSLR, and it was hand-held over the eyepiece of the 15" refractor at 3RF's Comanche Springs Astronomy Campus near Crowell, TX. Many of the later frames were "better" but none capture the black drop effect so well. Nancy says, "Bizarre" ... yep! |
