| Description |
English: Velociraptor mongoliensis is a diminutive dromaeosaur from the Late Cretaceous of what is now Mongolia. Smaller than most other dromaeosaurids, Velociraptor mongoliensis was about 2 m long and weighed around 18 kg in body mass. It was a bipedal, feathered carnivore with a long tail and an enlarged sickle-shaped claw on the inner toe each hindfoot, which is thought to have been used to tackle and restrain prey. Velociraptor can be distinguished from other dromaeosaurids by its long and low skull, with an upturned snout. |
