Deutsch: Kopie des Grabsteins für den römischen Kavalleristen Vellaunus, Am Johanneskreuz in Bonn (zwischen Rosental und Kölnstraße); der lateinische Text lautet: Vellavnvs nonni f[ilivs] bitvrix eqves ala longiniana tvrma L[vcii] Ivli[i] Regvli an[norvm] XXXVIII stipendiorvm XVIII h[ic] s[itvs] e[st] ex testamento factv cvrarvnt L[vcivs] Ivlivs Regvlvs decvrio et Macer Aspadi f[ilivs] eivsde[m] tvrma[e]; in der deutschen Übersetzung (auf der Rückseite des Steins): Der Bituriger Vellaunus, Sohn des Nonnus, Kavallerist im Longiniusschen Regiment (ala longiniana) aus der Schwadron (turma) des Lucius Julius Regulus, 38 Lebensjahre, 18 Dienstjahre, ist hier beigesetzt (hic situs est), aufgrund [eines] Testaments ließen [den Grabstein] machen der Wachtmeister (decurio) Lucius Julius Regulus und Macer, Sohn des Aspadius, aus derselben Schwadron; die Bituriger waren ein Volk in Gallien (zwischen Bourges und Bordeaux); ala (hier: Regiment) bedeutet „Flügel“, denn die Reiterei flankierte das Fußvolk; ein decurio ist dem Sinn nach jemand, der zehn (decem) Soldaten anführt.
