Summary

[edit]
Description
English: An early visual depiction of the vegetable lamb of Scythia, taken by Henry Lee from The Travels of Sir John Mandeville (1357). In Mandeville's account, which was itself after an account by Odoric of Pordenone, multiple lambs grow out of pods. Later descriptions have the vegetable lamb limited to one lamb per stalk, and the lamb attached directly to the stalk as if it were an umbilical cord.
